Basement Waterproofing Contractors and Construction Companies

Basement Waterproofing

If you own a home and have a subsoil basement then you need to be concerned about basement waterproofing. Basement waterproofing is defined as preventing water from penetrating into your basement area. Basement Waterproofing refers to techniques used to prevent water from entering the basement of a house or other uilding. Effective below ground waterproofing will include both drainage and sealers.

Waterproofing

Basement Waterproofing is needed anytime when a structure is built at ground level or below ground. Waterproofing and drainage considerations are especially needed in cases where ground water is likely to build up in the soil and raise the water table. This higher water table causes hydrostatic pressure to be exerted underneath basement floors and against basement walls. Hydrostatic pressure forces water in through cracks in foundation walls, through openings caused by expansion and contraction of the footing-foundation wall joint and up through floor cracks. Hydrostatic pressure can cause major structural damage to foundation walls and is likely to contribute to mold, decay and other moisture related problems.
Waterproofing your basement walls is the first step in preventing basement wall leaking. If you are planning on finishing or refinishing your basement, it is a good idea to come up with a basement drainage and basement sealing strategy first. This could include things like French drains, basement floor sealer, sump pump installation for basement water removal and basement foundation waterproofing. Crawl space waterproofing is also an option, but these solutions should only be installed by a certified basement waterproofing contractor.
With Cleveland Bricks And Mortar, you can actually see how your wet basement will be transformed into a bright, clean, comfortable, and of course DRY, healthy and usable space.
From poured concrete foundations to monolithic, stone, block or tile basement walls, no basement is safe from water leaking through the basement walls, floor, and floor joist and then entering into your home. After fixing very many wet basement problems over 30 years, the staff, technicians and basement waterproofing specialists at Clevelandbricksandmortar, Basement Waterproofing Systems have seen it all, and we appreciate just how damaging a basement wall water problem can be to your home, health and personal possessions. A home is one of the greatest investments that an individual can make, and allowing an entire floor's worth of space to become flooded will ruin the value of your home. Dry Basements can be used as storage space or finished to make a warm, beautiful, new living space in your home.

Basement Waterproofing - small jobs

Basements seep or leak because water has its own way. Your house may have had proper drainage once upon a time, but the underground pipes became clogged or collapsed. Many times the slope of the land is improper. Sometimes, there is an underground water flow that was never detected, and that can't reasonably be changed. In all cases, the exterior wall needs to be dug up and sealed from the outside. On simpler jobs, where this is all that is required, we can expertly and economically make your basement dry again so you can have a rec room or storage..

Basement Waterproofing - big jobs

Sometimes basement waterproofing is a bigger job than you might expect -- the drainage pipes below the foundation may need to be dug out, or the yard may need to be re-contoured. And sometimes the continued water seepage has eroded the structural integrity of the wall itself, and the wall must be rebuilt. We recently replaced three basement walls for a large ranch home in Rocky River. Ranches have very large basements and long walls.

To do this job, we employed an engineer and a house mover to jack up and brace the house as we demolished and replaced each of the three walls, one at a time. To protect the integrity and security of the home, we built a temporary construction-grade wood wall, complete with locking door, a few feet outside of the existing wall so the workmen could get in and out with wheel barrows and other equipment, and so the home could be secured.

It takes experience and skill to to this, but whatever your special needs might be, we've probably done it before, and will do it properly for you.
